Distraction #1: Rejection

Picture of God #56, Mon 12/18/00

I attended a Holiday dinner party Saturday.

Such things are usually a time of great happiness for "normal" people, and I'm glad for them.

But, being as I am, these things usually challenge me.  The simplest question, like "So what are you up to these days?" leaves me in a quandary...It seems I have 3 main options, each of them somewhat sticky:

  1. Lie, making-up some politically correct story.
  2. Avoid the question.
  3. Tell the truth.

I've tried all 3...These days I go with #3, simply because if I'm going to bother people, I might as well be as close to myself as I can...Another whole message there, but some other time.

So, my main answer is, "I host God's homepage on the internet.  We're working toward a Universal Season of God Consciousness."  You know, something nice and neutral like that.

And that night I got 3 main responses.  Fascinating.  And as I've been thinking about it, those responses seem very important...symbolic, illustrative, almost primal.

Later (I need to do a bit more soil-preparation) I will be discussing Jesus' 3 Temptations by the devil.

So to call these "temptations" is to overstate them.  But they are important, the 3 minor temptations. (Jesus' were major-league, and you must face them eventually if you plan to move ahead on the religious path.)  So I'll call them distractions.

Me: "I host God's homepage on the internet.  We're working toward a Universal Season of God Consciousness."

Response: "So, are you inviting people to think for themselves, or just trying to shove your own silliness down their throats?"

Me: "Well, if you are really interested in my approach, it's clearly stated at YHWH.COM"

Response: "Well, I'm really not interested.  I just don't care."

Well, ok...move past the red-herring (asking a challenging question you really don't want the answer to) and the a-little-bit-argumentative approach.  There's something very important here, which I call Distraction #1: Rejection.

Folks...I don't know what kind of a life you live...public, private, active, quiet, whatever.  But whatever the particulars, you need to find your calling because it is your calling, no other reason.

Here's a list, off the top of my head, of some of the things people have "criticized" about this ministry.  And NO, I do not mind, I seek the feedback...hey, that's the entire point(!)  The list:

  • Not enough pictures
  • Bad pictures
  • Wrong font
  • Wrong color scheme
  • Having frames
  • Using the word "God"
  • Using the word "Jesus"
  • Using the word "Tarot," and daring to try to show its symbolic meaning
  • Explaining that God's Name literally translated means "I Will Be"
  • Proposing that religion and science have anything at all to say to one another
  • Spelling YHWH's Name vertically
  • Suggesting that chanting God's name has any value
  • Using Hebrew instead of it predecessor, Cyro-Phoenician
  • Mentioning politics
  • Not talking about politics enough
  • Talking about money "all the time"
  • Using any language referring to sexuality
  • Changing my name
  • Too much about me
  • Not enough about me
  • Not being affiliated with a mainstream organization
  • Being on the internet at all, since it is "the devil's tool"
  • Suggesting that we still have much to learn about Christ's Passion
  • etc......

Yeah, I imagine I could go on & on, but I tire of it.

Here's short and sweet, the balancing point:

  • Too much to the left, and you ignore anything and everything anyone and everyone has to say.  Unwise.
  • Too much to the right, and you run your life according to what everyone and anyone has to say.  Also unwise.
  • The healthy, strong path is to examine everything openly & honestly, to improve where the spirit of YHWH may lead.

Seeking other's "approval" is only natural.  All creatures on this planet are attracted to those who are like them.  But, as I've tried to warn you before, the farther along the Transformation of Your Mind that you travel, the ever-more removed from mainstream humanity you will find yourself.

You must find the Truth, the Pearl of Great Price, and know its value and reality, even when all those around you doubt it is even real.

That, too, is part of the glorious revelation held in "I Will Be what I Will Be"...to be "yourself", able to examine yourself, but not destroyed by other's rejection.
