Dear Santa?

Thought for your day #44, Mon 12/4/00

(For further reading....

Last year's Christmas Message can be found here.

Here's a meditation from The Stations of the Cross, showing the amazing parallels between Jesus' Birth and Death.

And, this is my favorite Christmas Song.)

Sorry, folks, but I just can't keep quiet.

The Spirit of YHWH within me recoils in sorrow with what we are doing in His Name....

During the children's message today, at the Church I have recently resigned from, the teacher asked the kids what they do during this month.  "Make cookies", "Wrap presents", and..."Wait for Santa Claus".  "Very good.  That's right, we wait for Santa Claus."

Now look...Just stop and think about this for one minute.  Please.  And if you are a Santa Claus fanatic that just thinks it is so wonderful for all the kiddies then, please, do not read this, it will only upset you.

But for the rest of you, have you ever looked at this thing objectively?

  • In the name of "Christ" we tell our children lies.  No, I don't mean fail to give them full disclosure, as in the art and science of reproduction or socio-economic theory.  During "Christmas" time we actually lie to them.  Fat man, reindeer, whatever.
  • At the same time, during their formative years, people in the Church tell them another story, about a baby born in a manger with flying angels and the whole thing.
  • Get my point?
  • How is the young mind to TELL THE DIFFERENCE between the 2 mythologies?  In fewer years than it will take the Chargers to win a Superbowl the children will realize that the Satan (oops, sorry, I mean SANTA, I keep doing that, gosh darn it, where's my spell checker when I need it....Oh, it's working? OK.)  story was a LIE.  How, exactly, do you expect a child to tell the ontological  difference between the two?  Hmmmm?
  • "If Mommy and Daddy lied about Santa, what else have they lied about?"  And yes, your child is capable of making this connection.
  • And, not to get too personal, but have you ever REALLY THOUGHT about the Santa myth?  What is SAYS?  Notice:
    • Santa is omniscient (knows everything)
    • Has supernatural powers (flies thru the air)
    • Is omnipresent (is everywhere, that's how he (or should I say "He"?) knows everything you do)
    • Yet, HIS purpose is to give material blessings to those who are good, and bad things to those who are bad.
    • Meaning, of course, that if you HAVE BAD THINGS in your life then YOU MUST BE BAD, and yes, friends, children CAN and DO make these connections.
  • In short, Santa is a False God, equal in power to the "real" God, but with a very dark motive.

Forget God....Forget religion....How, in the name of anything that is holy or decent, can we continue to put such a lie into our children, especially one so evil, that also serves to undermine the veracity (truth) of everything else we tell our precious entrusted-souls?

How?

And how, in the name of Christ, can the Church continue to support and condone it?

Jesus weeps again.

PLEASE, STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  If you must, to assuage your guilt, go ahead and buy them every single toy the maximum limits on your credit cards can withstand, but this is in some ways worse than sexual abuse, and I use those words knowingly and carefully.

To tell an innocent child such a harmful, wicked lie is nearly unforgivable.

As long as we all sit by and silently applaud such child abuse, the human race will never advance.

Period.

Thus Says The Lord.

We can do so much better....And clearly we have much to discuss.

But individual parents cannot really be blamed...There's the whole issue of community, and expectations, and peer pressure, and.....

And clearly we have much to discuss.

Please stay tuned...Expect...something...wonderful...

I want to paint for you some Pictures of God....

X-MESS MEANS...

Xmess means a time when extra police duty is required to handle the wrecks, drunks, revelry, etc.

Xmess means a time when most people ignore and forget the Word of Elohim and follow the traditions of men instead, trying to put Messiah in a Pagan "holy day" falsely called Messiah's birthday.

Xmess means a time when most people yoke Messiah (who said "I am the TRUTH")... with lies, fairy tales and Pagan religion.

Xmess means a time when most parents lie to their children about Santa Claus and commercial establishments hire a "Santa" to lie to children all day long... all to celebrate the supposed birthday of the one who said "I am the TRUTH."

Xmess means a time when the whole world claims to love Messiah but Messiah said the whole world hates him (Jn. 7:7) thus the world calls him a liar.

Xmess means a time when the carnal believer and the Messiah rejecter join in "sweet" accord in the high carnival of the year.

Xmess means a time when Messiah is supposed to be offered annually for the sins of the people (Christ-Mass is Latin for "Christ Offering") in direct conflict with scripture which says that Messiah is not offered annually (Heb. 10:1-3).

Xmess means a time when Torah observant believers are considered narrow minded, ignorant, and cracked-pots for not taking part, "after all", they say, "wasn't this Messiah's birthday?"

Xmess means a time when many Christians think it's time to read about the birth of Messiah, falsely called "the Christmas story" while others think it is a good time to get drunk and have a good time.

Xmess means a time of the ringing of cash registers by the merchants, the singing of once a year Christmas carols about Messiah and Santa Claus and the contagious spirit of excitement is in the air. Revelry is upon the world. Who would dare resist? Answer: All Torah observant believers! (Rom. 12:2).
